How to create a ringtone on your iPhone using iTunes.

iPhone has its own iTunes media player which can play all kinds of audio and video music like every other mobile. iPhone also has its own standard ringtones. But if you want to make your favorite song or a theme from your favorite show, you can convert your favorite song into iPhone ringtone. You can do this by following these simple steps.

Step 1:

Open iTunes on your iPhone and select a music file of song audio or video from iTunes Library. Right click on that specific song, or click the three horizontal dots to the right of the song name, and select ‘Get Info’ from the pop-up menu.

Check on both the “Start” and “Stop” box which appear on the dialogue box and enter the start and stop times for the segment of the song or audio file you want to use. The segment should be 30 seconds long maximum. You need to determine which part of the song you want to use for the 30-second clip for your iPhone ringtone. Click ‘OK’ when you are done.

Step 2:

Go to File >> Convert >> Create AAC Version.
A duplicate file of 30 seconds length will be created with the original song name. You can also find your newly created file by searching. Select your new song and right click it (or click the three horizontal dots to the right of the song name), and select ‘Show in Finder’ from the pop-up menu.

In iTunes library song and ringtones file have a different extension. The AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) format uses the .m4a extension and ringtones use .m4r extension. Now you need to change the file extension of the new file you created. In the Finder window that displays, click the .m4a file to select it and then click it again to rename it. Just change the extension of the file to .m4r and press Enter.

Step 3:

A dialog box displays to make sure you want to change the extension to .m4r. Click the ‘Use .m4r’ button. After changing the file extension you can delete the song from the iTunes library. For this go back into iTunes, select the new, shorter song and press the Delete key. Click the Delete Song button on the confirmation dialog box that displays.

Step 4:

You can add ringtone file to your phone using .m4r file. Click ‘Keep File’ button to keep the .m4r file you created.

Step 5:

Now sync new iPhone ringtone, Go back to the Finder window and double-click on the .m4r file. The newly created ringtone is automatically added to the Tones library in iTunes.

Step 6:

Connect your device to computer. In iTunes click the device button on the toolbar.

Step 7:

Go to the Tones in the Settings menu on the left, and then check the ‘Sync Tones’ box.

Step 8:

Click the selected tones option. For only one ringtone accept the default option of all tones.
For first time sync of iPhone with iTunes a dialog box, asking if you’re sure you want to remove media from your phone and replace it with media from your iTunes library,p.u will show  You shouldn’t get it if you’ve been using iTunes to sync your iPhone.

Step 9:

Click the Remove and Sync button to continue.

Step 10:

Click apply button in lower -right corner of the window. Tap the Setting on the Home screen of your iPhone to select the newly added ringtone.
On the Settings screen, tap Sounds & Haptics.
Then, tap Ringtone on the Sounds & Haptics screen.

The custom created ringtone appears at the top of the list in ringtones of iPhone. Tap on the custom ringtone to select it. Your custom ringtone will have a blue check mark in front of it. You can also use your custom ringtone and text tone for different contacts on your phone.
